How did you get involved in lumberjack sports?
After my younger brother picked up the sport while attending WVU with the forestry club (woodsmen team). I decided it was something I'd like to try. So I started practicing, and then started competing.

When did you begin participating/competing in lumberjack sports and the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Series?
The summer of 1999 was when I competed for the first time. In 2010 started competing in  the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS SERIES.

How do you train for the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Series and other lumberjack competitions?
I started out practicing (sawing and chopping) at my parent's house. I now have standing block, and underhand practices at my house. I still practice sawing and axe throwing at my parents. I used to workout at a local gym, lifting weights, and spending a good deal of time doing cardio workouts on the treadmill or elliptical. I have dropped my gym membership after the company I worked for closed our office in Jan 2010. I have since picked up work, but not the gym.

Are you related to any current or former STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Series competitors?
My brother Mark Jones.

Best/strongest STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Series discipline:
Probably my underhand chopping is doing the best right now.

Any advice for the collegiate competitors?
You've got to practice and practice, and watch competition videos of yourself and good competitors you want to be like. Don't worry about speed, it will come as you go.

What pro athlete/celebrity would you like to see try one of the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS Series disciplines?
Bob or Jillian (biggest loser trainers)

Name three songs on your training/working out playlist?
Don't have music with training.

Extreme Makeover -- Home Edition, and Biggest Loser

WVU - football, and basketball

Proudest moment in your life so far:
Having my daughter, and wife who loves me.

Anything else you'd like to share?
This sport isn't as easy as it might look, and it is more technical than you may think.
